Analyse: Rumänien kämpft weiter mit Korruption im Alltag

In 2004 Traian B?sescu of the Democratic Party (PD) won the race for the presidency with „a national strategy“ against the culture of bribery. Romania’s corruption is one of the main criticisms raised by the European Commission in their final progress report of 26 September. The EU says that there is a very good chance that the country will be able to join on 1 January 2007. But the government must carry on the fight against everyday bribery.
