WTO backs EU in dispute over tax breaks
The World Trade Organisation on 20 August backed the European Union against the United States in a multi-billion euro trade dispute over tax breaks. The WTO dispute panel ruled that an American scheme offering tax breaks to US multinationals contravenes global trade rules and discriminates unfairly in favour of American firms.
