After the Galileo Joint Undertaking (GJU) said in March 2005 that it was not able to distinguish between the two bids for the Galileo concession holder, the politically sensitive decision was postponed until the end of June 2005.
On 20 June 2005, the competing bidders tabled a joint proposal (two consortia: the iNavSat consortium created by Thales, the French defence electronics company, Inmarsat of the UK and EADS, the Franco-German group; the Eurely consortium led by French group Alcatel and the Italian Finmeccanica, along with Spain’s Aena and Hispasat).
The GJU will choose the Galileo concession holder on 27 June 2005 from among the remaining three bids: the original iNavSat proposal, the initial Eurely offer and their fresh joint proposal.
