Turkey adopts reforms in bid to join EU
Turkey moved a step closer to joining the European Union on Wednesday night when its parliament adopted a package of constitutional reforms, allowing more human rights and civil liberties. Turkey hopes that the EU will look upon it more favourably in this year's progress reports, due to be published on 13 November, and eventually issue an invitation to start membership negotiations.
