Statewatch wins access to Council documents

The UK-based civil liberties organisation Statewatch has been given access to Council documents following a successful appeal to the European Ombudsman, Jacob Söderman. Mr Söderman emphasised that "the importance of safeguarding the widest possible access for European citizens to information and the need to respect rules on the right of access to documents." Tony Bunyan, Statewatch editor, welcomed the ruling by the Ombudsman.
