Sabena bankruptcy: the end for national "flag carriers"?

Belgian airline company Sabena decided on Tuesday 6 November to file for bankruptcy after last-minutes take-over plans with possible investors failed. The demise of Sabena could lead to more consolidation in the air transport sector, as the example of the Belgian "flag carrier" could prove a sign for other Member States to give up their ailing national airlines.
