Romania welcomes French proposal to include 12 countries in first enlargement
The Romanian government expressed satisfaction over the proposal by the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hubert Vedrine, that Romania should be included in the first wave of the European Union's enlargement in 2004. "Such a formula is positive and encouraging, as it copes with Romania's interests of speeding up its own accession negotiations with the European Union," the Romanian government said in a statement.
