Rasmussen calls Danish election for 20 November
The Danish Prime Minister Poul Nyrup Rasmussen caused surprise on 31 October when he called a general election for 20 November. The election did not have to take place until March but a November election will allow the Danes more time to prepare for their EU presidency in the second half of 2002.
