New Communication insists on broad mandate for Convention
The Commission adopted a Communication on the future of the EU, on 5 December 2001, which argues that the European Council in Laeken (14-15 Dec) should adopt a broad mandate for the forthcoming Convention on institutional reform. According to the Communication, the overall objective of the Commission's contributions to the Convention will be renewing the Community method.
