Kurznachricht – Bedingtes 'Ja' zum Emissionsplan Polens
Die Kommission hat dem polnischen CO2-Zuteilungsplan unter der Bedingung genehmigt, dass die polnischen Behörden die Gesamtmenge der Emissionsberechtigungen reduzieren, um die im Rahmen des Kyoto-Protokolls eingegangenen Verpflichtungen einzuhalten.
Die Kommission hat dem polnischen CO2-Zuteilungsplan unter der Bedingung genehmigt, dass die polnischen Behörden die Gesamtmenge der Emissionsberechtigungen reduzieren, um die im Rahmen des Kyoto-Protokolls eingegangenen Verpflichtungen einzuhalten.
The plan accepted on 8 March by the Commission covers 1,166 energy-intensive plants for a total CO2 volume of 717.3 million tonnes for the first trading period (2005-2007) under the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS).
This, the Commission stated, represents a reduction of 141.3 million tonnes compared with the plan originally submitted by the Polish authorities, or a 16.5% reduction. The Poles must now provide the Commission with a detailed list of allocations granted to each installation.
In a separate development, environment and agri-environment minister Elliot Morley was quoted by the Financial Times as saying that the UK would not seek legal action in a row with the Commission over the country’s upward revision of its CO2 allocation ceiling (see EURACTIV, 16 Feb. 2005).
