Deaths threaten Macedonia peace deal

The death of ten Macedonian soldiers in an ambush by Albanian guerillas on 8 August cast a shadow over the initialling of a peace deal by representatives of the two sides. The Macedonian government has responded by sending reinforcements to the Tetovo area where the ambush occurred. Macedonian civilians attacked Albanian owned businesses and a mosque in the town of Prilep in response to the deaths of 8 reservists from that town in the ambush.
