Czech EU accession not to be connected to the Benes Decrees issue
The German Minister of the Interior, Otto Schily, and the Bavarian Prime Minister, Edmund Stoiber, stated in their address to the annual Sudeten German Days in Nüremberg that the abolishment of the Benes Decrees is not a condition for the Czech membership in the EU. Nevertheless, they have called upon the Czech Republic to repeal them.
