Common EU quality standards to guarantee safety of blood donations

The European Parliament's Environment Committee adopted a second-reading recommendation by Giuseppe Nistico (EPP-ED, Italy) on a Commission proposal setting quality and safety standards for blood donations on 23 April 2002. The proposed Directive would establish common standards in all Member States for the collection, testing, processing, storage and distribution of human blood and its components.
