Chirac to stand again in French presidential elections

French President Jacques Chirac has announced that he will stand for re-election in the French presidential elections on 21 April. The conservative Mr Chirac is expected to enter a narrow race with the Socialist Prime Minister, Lionel Jospin, whom he defeated in the second round of voting in the 1995 election.
